Charlene and I had a recent conversation with a couple involved in international missions, he in one capacity, she in another. They had just completed a LifeQuest Couples Home Group. Following their four-month discovery process, they began to see that if they would be more intentional in bringing their unique gifts and talents to their work together, they would see greater impact, and influence. Getting to know them, it was clear that each brought something unique to the task at hand. Their feedback for us was this: anyone going into missions as a couple team would benefit greatly from a process like LifeQuest Couples Coaching. We heartily agree because we have lived it for nearly three years as we developed and now are delivering LifeQuest Couples Coaching to our mission field, local churches.

Couples launch themselves into missions at many stages of life. We worked with a young couple some time ago, with two young children. They have since been in the field, although we have lost touch. Charlene and I began our ministry after retirement. With youth comes energy and passion; with age comes passion and life experience, and prayerfully, wisdom. Missions work does not come easy at any age. However, we believe that with proper preparation any couple with a shared vision can succeed, burnout can be minimized, and they can experience the joy we all hope for in our work of Kingdom building.

As we work with couples in home groups, we help them discover those unique motivators that drive them. As couples follow through on the process, they understand themselves and their spouses much better, more completely. Discovery first is critical, but then comes stewarding of those gifts, talents and passions. Couples facing any challenge, whether it is missions work or daily family life, can learn to assign tasks more effectively to the spouse who is naturally drawn to them. The result is a greater focus, greater influence, greater joy in the doing, and greater success. Couples also experience a deeper level of intimacy and connection with one another.

As a married couple, Charlene and I had a lifetime of experience working with marriage and relationship building materials, leading small groups, mentoring individual couples and teaching other like-minded couples what we knew. LifeQuest Couples Coaching was born out of these experiences. Our desire has been to finish well, use our unique experience for Kingdom building, and leverage that into something long lasting and impactful.
